40/40 Club Host Mary J. Blige & Jay-Z's After Party
Parlux, the company behind fragrance deals with celebs like Paris Hilton (barf), just signed a multi-fragrance deal with Jay-Z. Personally I prefer my fragrances to be faceless, but after getting Sean John Unforgivable at his launch party a few years ago, I was in complete shock that I would like it so much. I promptly gave it to my man who actually liked it until he found out Diddy was behind it. I couldn't even fault him because there is something about celeb brands that feel so high school/Baby Phat/ Dereon to me. It has to be done well enough that I separate the artist from the brand like Rock and Republic when their line first came out.
There's no word yet on the actual sent they are cooking up for Jay-Z, but there is chatter of more possible scent collaborations from Kanye West and Rihanna in the future as well as a unnamed female artist which I'm sure is Beyonce. I hope not because isn't Beyonce already spattered around enough fragrance thanks to the garbage perfume that is True Star and her appearance in the commercial for Emporio Armani Diamonds? Hopefully they won't be inspired by last night's South Park and name Kanye's sent Ego with undertones of fish sticks. Womp,womp.
