So the nude Padma Lakshmi from May's Allure is random, but it got me back on the hunt for a great nude lip this weekend. I had a color from Mac that I loved and lost, and like most Mac products, you can never find them again a few months later because they were 'limited' so I was stuck searching for my perfect nude again. Since Saks was having their friends and family weekend, I decided to stop in and see if I could finish my mission and save a little on the side. I have a friend that always has really dramatic eyes with a beautiful nude lip when we go out so I tried her color, but it looked like my lips were chalk when I tried it on. Biggest issue with nudes, there are no universally flattering color. What looks great on one girl will make the next look like she got slapped in the face by her make-up kit.The poor lady at the Nars counter came over to give me a tissue and then let me in on a little trick. "Use a lip exfoliant, then use the foundation you already use for your face on your lip and add a little gloss or one with more shimmer depending on your mood."
Brilliant! I went home and used a little honey with sugar on my lips to exfoliate then used my Silky Compact Foundation from Thierry Mugler on my lips with a little Limitless long wearing lip gloss in Shimmering Bronze by Smashbox to jazz it up. It was such a simple concept that I can't believe I had never tried it out before, but I will be rocking this nude lip all summer!

Hey girl, its Niela! This is so cute, how often do you update this? I just was gonna chime in as a part time makeup artist and cosmetic fanatic I would suggest the same as that lady but also a few products to try would be Christian Dior has a really natural lip color liner, depending on the type of nude you are going for I would suggest M.A.C.'s Viva Glam V for a mauve nude color this would be good for dramatic purple and blue eye makeup, Blankety Lip Stick for a more pale one without looking chalky. I used that for a photo shoot with a smoky grey eye, and Fresh Brew is more of a tan nude lipstick. Dont forget to gloss with Revealing, Viva Glam V gloss, the all favorite C-thru, Chai and Prr..
