I saw a picture of my wedding dress on a website and the model had long flowing dark locks which got me thinking, maybe it's time I grow my hair back out. I chopped my long hair off about three years ago and haven't looked back since. Then I turned on Platinum Weddings and there was my dress again, and the bride also had long dark hair. So that got me thinking that maybe I wanted to grow out my cut and go for something longer and traditional on my wedding day. The long look really seemed to complement the dress. I asked my fiancé about his opinion and then I totally remembered the generalization that men love women with long hair because he was all about growing it back longer. And this doesn't exactly mean just get a weave because how embarrassing would it be if he tugged on it and it came out! Very Victoria and David Beckham, lol. However, there are some exceptions to the man law generalization like Halle Berry's 90's cut. No one would be telling her they weren't interested because he hair was short!Personally I think short cuts are sexier and just chic. Think back to some women who were in the spotlight, but never got as much shine until they cut their hair. Victoria Beckham went from posh spice to a fashion icon, Rihanna turned into a rock star overnight, and Katie Holmes actually became media worthy. I never got complements on my long hair except "your hair is soooo long." I had people asking who my stylist was everywhere I went with the short hair. I guess this preference is just another way we differ from the boys. Anyway, I'm always bored with my hair changing it up, so I decided to grow it out and I'll just chop it off again if I decided I didn't really like long hair anymore.
Fast-forward to now full
y deep in growing it out. On Tuesday I run across a picture of the twins Tia and Tamara at the TV Guide Hollywood party. Tia's hair is in a cute funky bob like the one I just had and her sister Tamara is closer to my grown out look. Tamara looks okay, but her hair looks incredibly boring photographed next to her sister's chic sophisticate look. I was seconds away from picking up the phone to schedule a chop for Friday when I remembered how much salon maintenance there was with my cuts. I was in the salon every week because I couldn't get the bangs to lay on my own and needed a trim ever three weeks or so because my hair and bangs grew out so fast. Weekly salon visits are hardly recession proof anymore.. . especially since I can't substitute with a few visits to the Dominican salons in Harlem in between for an $18 wash and blow. And now that I live in LA, hair cuts at my new salon are a lot pricier than my NYC salon.I just don't know. I have pictures during dress fittings when my hair was short, but I'm not sure that I love it with the dress. I do however love it for every other day of my life. So for now I think what I'm going to do is set out on a search for the ultimate flat iron because my hair is a beast and so far, only a trained professional has been able to tame her. I'll post updates about the status of how well the flat irons straightens it. If I actually find something that gives me the bone straight look I like, then it may be worth it to cut it off if I know I can survive a week or two in between appointments without funky, frizzy bangs!
Can I pull off Tia's blunt cut with this wedding dress? What do you think?
Rihanna in Paris!

The dress is stunning! I think you will look beautiful no matter how you wear your hair
