Last week in Santa Monica, Nicole Richie and Joel Madden hosted the grand opening of the Esprit return to the west coast. The night was less about Espritinis, sake beef wraps, and tiger shrimp with kefir lime chili sauce and more about 10% of all of the nights proceeds being donated to the Richie-Madden Children's Foundation. This was all around the same time it was just announced that Nicole will be partnering with the manufacturers who produce Modern Vintage shoes and Earnest Sewn jeans to add a line of about 20 shoe styles, bags, and belts to her House of Harlow 1960 label. The new addition will make their debut spring 2010.
I heart Nicole Richie and she looked so cute in a simple Esprit jean jacket she layered over a black Rick Owens tube dress and accented by a silk scarf. By the time I'm ready to get pregnant, I hope she adds a maternity line for young, chic moms like herself! Nicole is a modern fashion icon and when I asked her about tips from her experience from her jewelry line, she said she has been designing since she was younger, but it even took a celeb like her almost three years before she got House of Harlow 1960 up and running! I guess I have another year or so before I can say my jewelry line is taking too long!
If you missed the opening, you still have a chance to enter Esprit's 'How We Met' contest until April 23rd. Click here and log in to upload a photo and write your own 'how we met' story whether it's about your boyfriend, girlfriend, or best friend. The winners get a trip for two to either Barcelona, Paris, or Berlin, $500 to spend in the Esprit Flagship store in the city you picked, plus an additional $500 in spending money. Wow! Did I mention, I heart Esprit too?
